Adebisi Primed For 2013 Galaxy Handicap – Race Preview

March 13th, 2013

Adebisi has the Group 1 Galaxy Handicap firmly in his sights, with the race set to take place at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse on March 30, 2013.

The Galaxy Handicap has previously taken place as part of Doncaster Handicap Day, however, will this year run on Rosehill Guineas Day almost a month earlier.

Adebisi will target the 2013 Galaxy Handicap after his successful Melbourne campaign, which saw him win the Group 3 Rubiton Stakes at Caulfield on February 9.

His most recent result was a gallant fifth placing in the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate behind Mrs Onassis.

Trainer Desleigh Forster planned out the 2013 Galaxy Handicap run for Adebisi to ensure he did not meet the likes of Moment Of Change in the Newmarket Handicap or Black Caviar in the upcoming William Reid Stakes.

“I didn’t really want Adebisi to be chasing Moment of Change down the straight in the Newmarket and I wasn’t keen on chasing Black Caviar around the corner either,” Forster said.

“Adebisi’s efforts around Caulfield were terrific considering he was on the wrong leg the whole way around and he didn’t really handle the corners.

“He couldn’t zip around the corner like he has been used to doing in Brisbane, so his Melbourne campaign was totally full of merit.

“He will be set for the Galaxy now and he should enjoy Rosehill because it’s got a very small straight and he can really kick off the corner.”
